Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced a compensation package for families affected by the recent floods, with up to ₹1.20 lakh to be provided to those whose houses have been completely destroyed.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said the government has begun assessing flood-related damage in areas where water has fully receded. Teams from the Revenue and Agriculture departments have been deployed to carry out detailed surveys.
Under the relief package:
- ₹1.20 lakh for families whose houses have been completely damaged.
- ₹8,000 for households with fully damaged huts.
- ₹4,000 for partially damaged kutcha houses.
- ₹8,500 per hectare for farmers whose crops were damaged by the floods.
The minister said the floods have impacted 22 districts, affecting 85 blocks and 1,458 villages across Odisha. According to official estimates, 8,63,909 people have been affected by the disaster.
He added that damage assessment is progressing in areas where floodwaters have receded, and the findings will help the government provide relief and rehabilitation assistance to affected families as quickly as possible.
