Cuttack: In view of the heavy rainfall warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Cuttack district administration has ordered the closure of all educational institutions on Monday.
Cuttack Collector and District Magistrate Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde issued an official order directing that all schools, colleges, and Anganwadi centres across the district remain closed as a precautionary measure amid the prevailing weather conditions.
The order applies to all government and private educational institutions in the district.
In addition to the closure of educational institutions, the district administration has imposed restrictions on swimming, bathing, fishing, boating, and all other recreational or commercial activities in the Mahanadi River and its distributaries until further notice.
The Collector has directed the Commissioner of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) and all Block Development Officers (BDOs) to ensure strict implementation of the safety measures. Police authorities, including Inspectors-in-Charge (IICs) of all police stations, have also been instructed to prevent people from gathering at riverbanks and ghats.
As a further precaution, all public and private construction activities across the district will remain suspended on Monday.
The district administration has urged residents to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel to low-lying areas and riverbanks, and follow advisories issued by the authorities as heavy rainfall continues under the influence of the weather system over the Bay of Bengal.
