Bhubaneswar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has cancelled his proposed two-day visit to Odisha, which was scheduled for July 4 and 5. During the visit, Shah was expected to participate in a series of official programmes and public events in Bargarh and Sambalpur districts.
The cancellation was confirmed by Bargarh MP Pradip Purohit, who stated that the Union Home Minister would be unable to travel to Odisha owing to important engagements in New Delhi.
As part of his planned itinerary, Shah was slated to inaugurate an ethanol project and launch several other development initiatives. He was also scheduled to address public gatherings in Bargarh and Sambalpur, where BJP leaders and party workers had been preparing for his visit.
The cancellation has led to the postponement of the proposed programmes, though no fresh dates for the visit have been announced so far. Party leaders indicated that the events may be rescheduled once a new itinerary is finalized by the Union Home Minister’s office.
Shah’s visit was being viewed as significant for both administrative and political reasons, as it was expected to highlight development projects in western Odisha while also strengthening the BJP’s outreach efforts in the state.
