Bhubaneswar: Odisha has received investment proposals worth ₹66,392 crore during a two-day investor roadshow in New Delhi, with the proposed investments expected to create around 54,135 jobs in the state.
The roadshow, which concluded on Saturday, brought together business leaders and industry representatives through one-on-one meetings, sector-specific discussions and a visit to the Haier manufacturing facility in Noida.
The focus was on attracting new investments, strengthening Odisha’s manufacturing and supply-chain ecosystem and creating more employment opportunities for the state’s youth.
CM visits Haier facility
On the second day of the roadshow, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited Haier’s manufacturing facility in Noida. He interacted with senior company officials and technicians and took a closer look at the company’s manufacturing processes.
The visit also provided an opportunity to explore how Odisha could attract more investments in sectors such as electronics, consumer durables, ancillary industries and supply chains.
Majhi said the state is working to create an environment where industries can expand while generating jobs and long-term economic opportunities.
“Our focus is not just on bringing investments to Odisha. We also want to create jobs, strengthen local supply chains and open up new opportunities for the youth,” the Chief Minister said.
38 MoUs signed
During the two-day outreach programme, the Odisha government signed 38 MoUs involving investments of ₹64,703 crore. These projects are expected to generate around 46,071 jobs.
The state also received Investment Intention Forms (IIFs) worth ₹1,689 crore, with the potential to create another 8,064 employment opportunities.
Focus on key industries
Several meetings were held with industry representatives from different sectors.
The Engineering Goods Manufacturing Roundtable discussed opportunities in manufacturing, industrial infrastructure, ancillary industries and supply-chain development.
The Textile and Apparel Roundtable focused on expanding textile and garment manufacturing, increasing exports, developing skilled manpower and generating employment.
Discussions at the Aluminium Ancillary and Downstream Roundtable, organised with NALCO, centred on aluminium-based manufacturing, value addition, ancillary industries and greater participation of MSMEs.
The government said these discussions helped investors understand Odisha’s investment potential while giving the state a clearer picture of what companies need to set up and expand their operations.
Majhi described the response from industry as encouraging and said Odisha is positioning itself for faster industrial growth under the Purvodaya vision.
Overall, the government expects the investment proposals received during the Delhi roadshow to boost industrial development, strengthen manufacturing and create thousands of new employment opportunities across Odisha.
