Bhubaneswar: Authorities have announced the closure of all government and private schools, along with Anganwadi centres, in Nabarangpur and Bhadrak districts on Thursday, July 30, following heavy rainfall warnings and flood-like conditions.
In Nabarangpur, District Collector Maheswar Swain ordered the closure after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall across the district. The IMD has issued an Orange Alert for Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, and Koraput, warning of intense rainfall on July 30.
The weather department has also predicted heavy rainfall in Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir, Kandhamal, Rayagada, and Malkangiri districts.
Meanwhile, in Bhadrak, the district administration has directed all government and private schools, as well as Anganwadi centres, to remain closed due to flood-like conditions caused by continuous rainfall over the past few days.
The authorities have urged residents to remain cautious and follow official advisories as heavy rain is expected to continue across several parts of Odisha.
