Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has identified more than 1.01 crore women beneficiaries for the fifth instalment of the Subhadra Yojana, which is scheduled to be disbursed on Rakhi Purnima, August 28.
The decision was reviewed at a high-level preparatory meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Friday. The meeting assessed administrative and technical readiness to ensure the seamless transfer of financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries.
Officials informed the meeting that 1,15,75,633 applications have been registered under the scheme so far. During the 2026-27 financial year, an additional 3,17,966 fresh applications were received.
Following scrutiny and eligibility verification, 1,02,04,396 women were initially identified as prospective beneficiaries for the fifth instalment. However, after district administrations verified the deaths of 5,277 beneficiaries and removed their names from the database, the final beneficiary count was revised to 1,01,99,119 women.
The meeting reviewed the progress of several critical processes, including Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) activation, biometric e-KYC, field verification, NPCI account mapping, payment file preparation and coordination with banking institutions.
Officials were instructed to expedite the completion of pending cases, including:
- 82,036 DBT activations
- 28,621 biometric e-KYC verifications
- 3,53,059 field enquiry-related cases
before the next instalment is released.
Reviewing the overall implementation of the flagship scheme, officials informed the Deputy Chief Minister that more than ₹12,064.86 crore has already been transferred directly into the bank accounts of over one crore women through the first four instalments.
The meeting was also informed that out of 3,57,953 grievances received under the scheme, 2,68,396 cases have been resolved so far.
In addition, 24,92,913 applications were sent for field verification, of which verification has been completed in 21,93,406 cases, reflecting significant progress in beneficiary validation and grievance redressal.
The state government said efforts are underway to complete all pending formalities well before Rakhi Purnima to ensure timely disbursement of the fifth instalment to eligible women beneficiaries across Odisha.
